Default Amuse GT1 Wide Body Kit

Is this kit that much more functional than conventional non-wide body aero parts (ex: j's racing, voltex, like evasive motorsports s2000) or is it mostly just for looks? I can't justify purchasing this kit for $10K if is mostly for looks. Need pure function to build a time attack s2000.

There's a guy on here selling the kit for 4500 if you're looking for one. In terms of aero, Unless you're boosted I doubt it adds much value. Just an opinion though no real facts behind what Im saying besides the guy selling the kit that is

The wheels you can fit are much, much wider than a normal wide body. +50 on each side. I say get the tamon design kit if you like it. Best looking widebody IMO.

Although the front bumper seems to have a nice slope to it which probably lends to good aerodynamics, the added width will probaly add some drag. The main advantage is to fit wider wheels and tires, however although wider tires create increased grip they probably also slow the car down on the straights. However, you do not need a widebody to run big tires..there is a guy running 18x10.5 and 18x11 CCW wheels with 285/30/18 and 295/30/18 tires...the offsets of the wheels are very high. Personally, there are probably better uses of the money, and if you are building a track vehicle, you may as well buy replica because rock chips and off road excursions happen.

So if not running tires wider than 295 then the wide body kit is practically useless (or even worst with the kit because of increased drag and weight? lol)?

If you look at a lot of track guys on the forums, they run a 255/40/17 tire in a square setup (17x9 or 17x10 wheel) because 1) They are fairly inexpensive and 2) For the stock power of the S2000 they are enough. Plus some say maximize your tire compound before tire size (i.e. get R-Comps rather than going to a 285 or 295). You'll learn a lot more following threads in the Racing and Competition subforum on here.

If you're serious about performance, there's a lot you can do before going to a widebody. There are benefits but you won't see them until you have a lot invested elsewhere also.

It's functional, if you've got 100 grand under the hood.

Yep, proper width and offset can fit some rubber on this car. 295/35/17 on the rear of mine with 11.5" +63, stock body just rolled fenders. That’s it though, no more room inside or out. The total wheel well clearance on the S is just under 12.5" with cut/rolled/cut fenders and accounting for wheel path under susp compression with camber, that’s it. So really, unless your willing to go 315+ its sort of a waste to run a whole wide body. If just some simple over fenders are your thing then 315s could be had. With the front figure about 1" less rubber to be safe just because you give up room for steering and if you run front brake ducting you have to give up a little less yet due to the hose routing.

More tire is the easiest way to increase the performance on this car as long as you have the suspension to handle the extra G load. Braking upgrades are good as well.
