I bought my car in March of '08.. I noticed the speedo was WAY off. While using a GPS my speedo read 90 when actual speed was 75 on GPS. I did a few calculations with the help of some members on here and concluded that I have 4.57 aftermarket gears.
@ 75mph
speedo reads 90
tach reads ~5500
-and thats cruising speed... wooo not very eco-friendly..
I checked under the car yesterday as I was about to swap out my CV joints and noticed my diff bolts had been tampered with. From the factory there are yellow paint lines on the bolts, they were all mismatched.
At all of my autoX's with some other s2000's, I will get into 4th gear on the straight while the other S's (ap1) will only reach mid 3rd.
I now have yellowbox and a workin speedo!

Well...that rpm at 65 would suggest that you don't have gears. BUT ikeyballz is right...if the speedo isn't calibrated the test means nothing. As others suggest, get a GPS and check your speedo. If you were really going 65mph, then you don't have gears.
