4.77's or Comptech SC
Hey guys and gals,
So I know I have read this topic over and over, but I could not find anything when searching! Bah! Anyways, I have some money to play with the s2k this summer, and I want to add something fun. I found a used Comptech kit for a good price, but started thinking. Would 4.77's be a better performance per dollar option for me right now vs a Aftercooled Comptech kit with stock pulley? I know people say AP1's with 4.77's can keep up. I would like some experienced input if anyone has it. The car is an 02, and is daily driven during the summer months. Yes, mostly freeway, but I don't really cruise higher than 70. Any help is great!
Thanks,
Ian

I have a stock boost comptech and love it, never any problems not to mention you have the option to get more power when you decide you want to. If gears will be enough for you then go for gears, but personally dont think there going to add as much fun as a s/c

An S with 4.77's might be able to keep up with a basic supercharged until the middle of 3rd gear, but after that it's over. Have you considered nitrous? Check out my guide and read through it. Might be something you should look into. Ohh and an S with just a 75 shot will be just as fast if not faster than a basic supercharged S and have more torque.

Yea im sure nos is faster at times.. but not having to push the button and have it all the time without running out is always nice. Not that its not an option just saying.

I would love to Ian (killer name BTW) but we all know a budget has to come into play Ok, so I guess your right. Until 3rd gear, the 4.77's could stick with, or pull a SC s2k, but after that the SC will pull. But, for those extra tenths of a second off the quarter mile, is the extra $2k pluss worht it to go with the SC???

Yeah it would be nice not having to fill a bottle every month or two, but even for $40 a month it's worth it. I'm just saying it's something to look into since it's a great power adder and safe if used right. It's definetly not for everyone though.

Definitely skip over the 4.77's and get the supercharger. night and day difference in performance.
I started out with 4.77's and was going back and forth between the two. 4.77's are fun but no where near as fun as the sc. Sc is tons faster everywhere as well except maybe below 5k rpm's where the torque multiplyer of the gears gives it more grunt.
nitrous is cool I guess but I would never be happy having to fill my bottle to have power personally. If you use it a bit too will cost you more in the long run. Supercharger is bolt on 300whp that will always be there.

I vote for SC as well. I've got 4.77s and couldn't tell any difference after installing them, aside from having to shift more and being about 1k higher on the motorway.
