Default +1 wheels and ABS function

So... Never posted here before. Thanks for the info/advice in advance. I bought an '04 with Advan racing wheels at all 4 corners sized 17x9.5 +30 as stated above. The current set-up has the front tires at the stock size of 215/45-17's which has them stretched quite a bit. Not really a fan of the look so I'd like to replace them with the same 245/40-17 that are on the rears. My tire guy is afraid that the different diameter in front from the stock specs will throw off the ABS system. Anyone have an opinion/experience/information that would help me out?

The diameter is not different enough to have a big effect. What you should be considered with is those wheel will not fit on the front with that tire size. Way to aggressive of an offset and width. It is to aggressive for the rear really as well. You need some wider front fenders to run a wider tire. I would sell those wheels and get wheels that fit.

Agreed, a 9.5" wide wheel with a +30 offset isn't going to fit very well up front or out back, which is why the PO had those stretched tires on there. Has the car already had fender work done to it? Roll/pull/tab relocation/etc?

^The answer has to be yes. It is just a matter of if the roll pull etc was done right by a person or shop or if the wheels and tires did the rolling, pulling, damaging themselves.

Hey guys. Thanks for the reply's. The fenders are already widened. Which I did myself. I started with cheap/crap duraflex fenders which weren't wide enough yet, then i sectioned them and widened then an additional inch. They will now be perfect for the proper tire on that wheel with that offset. I modified the fenders with that in mind. I also painted and installed flares in the rear. I could post a pic if you'd like.

So I figured that the diameter change would be inconsequential. Thanks again for the verification.

This forum's the best!

Nice, I bet it looks pretty neat! As long as you can fit the tire, then get those silly looking 215's the heck outta there! Are 255's out of the question?

oops... new to this. Yeah. It actually look pretty good! Thanks. I'm not sure about the 255's. Never asked. Pretty sure the 245's are whats made for the wheel. The 215's look silly right?!

Yeah and doesn't do anything for positve performance. Get some proper sized tires on there and you'll be looking good
