All-
Many of you remember my talking about Sports Car Touring Days at our last couple of meets. In a nutshell, a bunch of auto enthusiasts get together to enjoy each other's iron, the wonderful roads of the area, and more importantly, each other's company. I told you of the wonderful enthusiasts driving classic Jags, Astons, MG's, DeTomasos, Ferraris, Lotuses, Porsches, NSX's and others.
These are definitely family events, as their were just a few solo riders last time. Personally, I think it adds to the warmth. The events are organized by a lovely couple, Dwight & Tara Mowery from Poolsville, MD that works at NIH and made sure that this first-timer with the $30,000 non-exotic was welcomed with open arms. The course they layed out was spectacular--both challenging and scenic.
Here are some shots from last fall: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?...9441&a=11903508
Enough of the preamble. I just felt it was necessary since this meet is not limited to S2000's.
Here are the specifics:
You can RSVP by email at dm99n@nih.gov
If you wish to contact them by phone or snail mail, please email or PM me and I will give their information. I don't feel comfortable posting it here without their permission.
I realize that this event follows right on the heels of S2K Days, but I think you'll find it very worthwhile.

Here are the specifics:
The spring day drive is scheduled for Sunday, May 6, 2001. We will gather at 9:30am at Quince Orchard High School in Darnestown, MD (Montgomery County). The route is 120 miles of mostly open country roads. Our morning break will be in Boonsboro, Md. We will have lunch at the 220 Seafood Restaurant (a la carte menu) in Winchester, VA.
Our driving tours continue to be a "no fee" event and you are responsible only for your travel expenses, meals and lodging. We are open to all sports car marques and reserving a place in this group is on a first come first served basis. Highly detailed maps and directions are sent to all persons who RSVP. The roadways we have chosen to drive are some of the best around for scenery and roadbed quality. We are particular about the road surface since we value our car as much as yours.

Like my esteemed colleague at the Bar Dliodoir, I have of late been saddled with far too many parties involving clowns and cakes with purple icing. Happily, it appears that (aside from Dliodoir's youngest son) no-one else we know was born that day. In the absence of any Barney birthday bacchanals (I may drive like a wussy but I can alliterate with the best ), I have been granted an imperial indulgence to attend. See y'all there!!
Regards,
Phil
