Steering Wheel Scratch

Steering Wheel Scratch
Hi,
I searched and found some old topics. No real consensus however.
I have a decent scratch and some abrasions after sliding in and out with my jeans.
I read and saw a you tube video of someone using 800-> 1200 grit and then paint (with some other stuff in between)
I also read about leather conditioner until it smooths out.
Is there any more information or are there more people who have tried either methods?
Thanks

Post a picture. You might have to go as far as leather filler and dye if you can catch your fingernail in the scratches. It isn't hard to do but will be expensive for such a small area. Leather filler and dye is pricey. Most people with black interiors will fix their seats and do the steering wheel and shift boot at the same time to get more bang for the buck.
