Seat Leather Replacement vs Seat Covers?
#11
I am replacing stock seat covers with Katzkin Tuscany all leather covers. Ink body with perforated midnight insert. Also having shift boot and center console cover done in midnight as well. Local automotive upholstery specialist doing the work first week of November. Got on the schedule beginning of August. They are very busy, which makes sense. They did the front seats on my 2013 ZDX and the workmanship was completely spectacular.
I met with the design specialist and co-owner in August. She has the complete catalog of Katzkin colors and leather types. We spent two hours going over the possible combinations that would work with an Indy yellow AP1.
We agreed on the Ink/midnight combination and we both think it is going to be beautiful. She has a great eye for this and am so excited to see and feel the seats when done.
I have wanted to do this since I acquired the car. Current covers are in great shape for being 19 years old, but over time they have become less pliable/supple so I have been saving for this upgrade and now can't wait for November.

Would you share pictures of your interior once it has been reupholstered? I'd love to see it.

Yes. The seats were the only bad thing about the car when I bought it in '16. The passenger seat had some small tears along the perforations. The driver seat was worn and cracked along the front of the bolster. It has since torn on the seat back along one of the seams in the center.
When I bought the car, I knew that new leather was in my future. I came across LeatherSeats.com after a search and I have received some color samples. I'm deciding how I want go. Make the seats look as close to stock as possible? Or go with a 2-color scheme that would add a little pop? I'm not worried about resale, this is my car.

I just installed my Calzzio covers tonight and honestly, for the $400.00 bucks and how great they look it would be hard to justify spending the 1k to have them completely reupholstered. I am honestly shocked by how great these look and I haven't even had a chance to get them in the sun to help the leather shrink down a bit. These pics were taken right after my dad and I installed them, as you can see my seats were TRASHED!!!

Very happy. Clocked 115 miles on the interstates of Omaha tonight with my wife of 31 years. Feel and look so, so good. Worth every penny in my book. I saved the original covers of course.
