Default Radio

Just recently replaced my battery and of course the radio was locked when I turned it back on. I don't know what the code is so I brought it to a dealer. They told me that they would have to take the radio completely out to reprogram it, which would cost $100. Has anyone else experienced this or have any words of advice? Thanks.

You just need to call Honda with the serial number of the radio. They may need the VIN as well but thats really it. I just called Honda the other day about the radio code for my teg and got it with only the serial number. If that doesnt work...just call my local Honda dealer.

This may be a stupid question, but where would I find the serial number of the radio? BTW I don't have the original drivers manual. Thanks.

You have theoption of the serial number which is on the radio itself. Radio has to be removed to get the number.

You can also look under the hood and see if there is the radio code on a lable. There might be a code under the fuse box lid in your engine bay as well.

You don't need to pull the radio out.

From their website: https://radio-navicode.honda.com/
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2. Turn ON the device and confirm that the display reads COdE. If you don’t see this message, pull the backup fuse for 1 minute, and then go back to step 1.
3. Turn OFF the device.
4. Press and hold the 1 and 6 radio preset buttons, and turn ON the device.
5. The display toggles between two screens: U with the first 4 digits of the serial number (U2200 for example,)
6. And L with the last 4 digits of the serial number (L0055 for example.)
7. Ignore the U and L and record all 8 digits

You can use the serial number along with your personal information to recover the code.

I believe the code is a five digit code, so I am not sure how those 8 digits will help me

I could not find a serial number anywhere...when I turn the radio on, it reads COde Err 3. I turn it off, hold 1 and 6, turn it on and nothing happens.

Those eight digits are the serial number used to recover the code, not the code itself. On my radio, the serial number printed on it was longer than 8 digits. When recovering my code online, putting in the full number gave me an error. Using just the last eight numbers worked for me.
