Default Modifying OEM seats to hold better.

So it's about time to repair the seats in my 06, and I don't want to spend $3,000 on aftermarket seats and rails. But, I would like to improve the effectiveness of the shoulder and thigh bolsters of the stock seats so I don't have to brace myself midcorner when I'm at the track. I am thinking about replacing the leather on both seats with new, as well as suede or alcantara portions to improve the seats' grip, but I also wanted to modify / bend / or otherwise physically alter the bolsters in the seat itself. Has anyone done this, and what does it entail?

I haven't read much about altering the seat bolsters but I can imagine a upholstery shop could do it if they are the same ones who re-wrap but I figure that's gonna cost a pretty penny.

Look into the Clazzio seat covers. They have different fabric options and the fit is exactly like oem 06+ seats minus a single stitch across the headrest. Very cost efficient, I got mine for $350 I believe.

Also, if you're side bolsters are flattened out look into repairing/ replacing the foam portions. You can also do what I did and swap the bottoms: drivers side - passanger side.

maybe get a shop that can do the outer surfaces in alacantara, it is more grippy than our coated leather seat surfaces, you could leave the centre sections as they are.

I have retrofitted AP1 seats into MY06 to snug everything up as I found the '06+ seats are less comfortable and more of a "computer chair".

Happy with my decision and MY06 seats will remain in great shape if I ever decide to sell the car.
