This definitely makes it a $140,000 Civic!

holy flirking schnit! Mugen =

Ev, so the 11k rpm K20 motor is from Mugen? If so, any idea on costs? Engine rebuilds for any of the Mugen race motors (either the 2.0L 4-cyl or 3.0L 8-cyl) cost between $20k-50k alone. I'm guessing the huge bulk of the $140k pricetag comes from the motor. Also wonder if it's the same motor that's used in their 260-hp Mugen RR Experimental-Spec?

btw, is that a Hewland tranny or a conventional tranny?

Is the car racing in some professional series? I know most here don't understand the outrageous pricetag, but many raceteams have no problem plunking down that much coin for an edge. Yeah, you could build something faster, but if it's in a series that has certain amount of rules, you're limited in what you can do.

Kinda ironic that you could buy a 500-hp Mugen-Honda V8 powered Reynard F3000 racecar for the same price with included spare Mugen V8 engine. But if I had money to burn, why not?

what a joke a 140,000 for a civic. you could by a used porsche gt2 cup for that price and it would run circles around that "race civic"......

Why is this civic so effing cool???? Not just this EXACT one but this model in general. Has anybody seen how this thing performs?? Stock it beats an S2000 and a 350Z (even the nismo version) not to mention a bunch of other cars. In the ends its a freaking 4 door!! Makes you wonder, what will happen if honda comes out with another s2000 or something along those lines. The technology that goes into these 4 cylinders is simply amazing. Ours is absolutely amazing, but this thing is even crazier (not when modded though )!
