Does the Veilside lip actually produce any downforce or is it strickly aesthetic? If the lip has no real function, I'll pass.

I have the gotuning spoiler? just got it painted today. I was wondering if i should use 3m doublesided tape. It' is not to hold it down since it uses the third brake light holes with screws. It's just so water doesnt leak in, but i dont think it will get into the trunk either way. Without the tape it will look more flush? i guess. Any suggestions?
