2. The S was N/A - maybe modded suspension and r compounds. The S driver was skilled. The carrera should still run circles around it.
that S is a prepped track-car with a supercharger fyi

1. I'm not necessarily judging skill, but if you say he was not going "10/10ths" or whatever fraction you would like to use, and he nearly went off once, and then completely went off the second time... well then, you can probably deduct something about his "skill"

3. "street" tires on a CGT are pretty damn sticky, and wide

the point I was making is - why learn on a CGT. expensive, and very powerful. He was obviously not a skilled driver is he went off the track without even pushing the car.

...so yes... "pretty shitty driver" or "not very skilled" or "beginner" or whatver you wish to call it.
I still don't think you can say this guy was inexperienced or a beginner. For all you know, he could be a competitive Spec Miata racer with thousands of hours on-track. But to go from any "normal" car (Miata, S2000, 350Z, whatever) to a 650hp, mid-engine monster is going to be a challenge for anyone. I have a bit of track experience, and I still have an "off" occasionally... even in my torque-tastic S2000.

Have you seen the video of the FXX that was floating around recently? That guy was stepping out the tail on almost every corner. Would you say he was a bad driver... or is he a "good" driver, just because he managed to catch it and keep it on track?

Anyway... if this guy has the money, then he has every right to have a toy like that and take it to the track. I'd much rather see him spin it off track than to see him spin it on public streets. I commend him for trying to learn the car in the right environment.

As for the S... the fact that it's missing parts of the interior (look at the passenger footwell) indicates that it's more than lightly modded. And anybody that does that to their car probably has a bit of track experience.

Edit: Just saw the later response w/ details of the supercharger, etc.

How can you say things like this by just watching the video? That S is a stripped (i believe) track only car with a supercharger, suspension, and r-comps. It's owned by a regular in the R&C forum. And even the best driver has offs occasionally, you can't judge the skill of someone by just watching one video.

Spoken like someone who probably has never been to a track

looks like on the last turn the CGT got a little to heavy on the gas, over(under) corrected and spun out.

he might have even got scared with the S behind him.

as much as i love the sound of that S, I couldn't live with it.

Hearts...I'm sick of all your compromising.
Same reason you got a new AP2 instead of a used AP1.

Live a little brotha-man.

Liking the way the S catches it in the corners.
I'm not going to comment on either car
