Wow, great work and an inspiration. I'm picking up a spare set of SSR GT3's today. I have been thinking about painting them and polishing the lips.

I have a few questions if you don't mind.
1. how did you polish them. did you use a small buffer? how did you protect the tire from all the polishing stuff
2. what did you use to protect the paint from chips and such?
3. are all 3 piece wheels siliconed together? I'm guessing they must be.

I'm wondering if a clear powder coat exists, that could be applied over paint. I'm thinking about painting the spokes on the GT3's Suzuka to match the car.

thanks

Mitch

Looking Great!! I can't wait to see more daytime pictures.

S2kSuzuka - my LMs are getting a clear from the powder coating shop over the black chrome powder so yes it exists.

excellent. I just got back from Naples with my spare set of SSR GT3's and now I can start the process of breaking them down and having them painted.

1) Polished mine by hand. I had to wet sand a few places, but it was pretty straight forward. The big thing is to make sure you have the right products for the job. You're never going to polish out a rough wheel with Nevr-Dul. I really recommend the Adam's #1 and #2 polishes I used. If you don't want to spend the money on Adam's products, Mother's Billet polish works almost as good, it's just harder to use.

2)The paint is clear coated and then I put a layer of sealer and wax on them. Other than that, nothing really.

3)All 3 pc wheels have 2 rim halves that are siliconed together. If you take your tires off, be careful not to put any stress on the rim halves. The bead is pretty tough, but I wouldn't want to risk messing it up.

Is it me or those rims look extremely big now? Looks like some big a$$ blades from a copter!

I'll keep you in mind. I'm leaving Hawaii this summer. Shipping to you would be a lot easier then. I don't know that I'll sell these, but it's a possibility.
