I wasn't sure what color the regular non-carbon fiber hardtops came in initially... I was thinking of getting one of those and having a gloss paint applied if it is initially black in color. Does anyone have this done, is it even black before painting? or should I jus chuck this idea out the window?

 

OEM ones are only sold painted. I dont know about the FRP Mugen one.

I wish that they had sold all hardtops in berlina black. A black hardtop looks good on any color, and you could always repaint it. If they did, they wouldve been a lot cheaper I would imagine!?

 

That would be my answer.

Every FRP piece I've purchased from the various sponsors on S2ki have been a milky white color.

 

mugen fiber glass hardtop comes without paint and comes in primered white and ready for paint. under-side is gel coated black, but mine came with scratches on them and painted both the underside and outside...check out the raw pics below...

 

A bit off topic, but does anyone know what the weight is for the FRP Mugen ht? What about CF? Sorry to hi-jack your thread. .
