I think part of the reason the NFR you posted looks good is because it's got graphics on it to break up the surfaces. Without graphics, I think it looks better w/the triangle painted black.

mines solid, but its all black. so im no help. honestly you have to do the sides so they match your grill and fog light bezels.

Paint the faux window..... everyone is doing it

Seriously though, I had the same debate as you..... and I had 7 months to think about it while I waited for the top to arrive! I ended up painting the faux window as you can see below. But here's something you may consider: I contemplated having the top painted solid and if I didn't like it I would go have a black vinyl made to replicate the faux window. That way you could add/remove it as you please. If in the end you decide you like the faux window better you could always go back and have it painted on.
