I think it's necessary to take off the caliper and brackets I order to get the cleanest paint job.

It's the only way to get that "came from the factory" look.

Whenever i do mine with the high temp paint, what's key is to use their primer as well. Se calipers I've done have last years this way without chipping. The brake dust washes right off.

Also, this would be a good time to take some naval jelly to the rotors and paint them, along with re greasing the pins and polishing up the pad brackets.

If they're OEM, just paint them black. Don't call attention to stock calipers. If they're aftermarket, then leave them whatever color they come. What is this... 1999?

Driven - If you want to be so politically correct, why aren't you telling people to prep their calipers correctly too? Your way is wasted time unless you want to do it the RIGHT way and that is remove the calipers completely, separate, prep, powdercoat, then replace. No need for you to jump on people for doing it a way that works just fine for a daily driver. It won't hurt a thing.
