[QUOTE=eg2solsi500,Apr 21 2010, 08:08 PM] now I need some help.

I bought the normal 17x8 and 17x9 +45
And my tires are dunlop star specs in 225/45/17 and 255/40/17
Also I'm lowering the car on stock shocks and espelir springs

So I got the wheels but I hate how the fronts look. How hard would it be to fit the 17x9 +45 and 17x9.5 +38 ?
How much camber would I have to run ?
What would have to be done to the fenders

The 17x9.5 +38's will be a lot more work to make fit than the 17x9 +45's. You would at LEAST need to roll and slightly pull the fronts and run some extra -camber with the +45's the +38's you would need to flare the fronts with a roll, trimmed liner, etc...

IMO, the 17x9+45 would look better in front. I have them all around and it makes a huge difference from the convexed 17x8.

You got me confused:
As of now I'm thinking of running the 17x9 +45 with the 225/45 star specs in the front and the 17x9.5 +38 with the 255/40's in the rear.

You said that to run the 17x9 fronts the front fenders need to be pulled and flared ?
And what about the 17x9.5 in the rear ? what would be required ?

Is your set up a 17x9+45 fronts and 17x9.5+38 rears ?

well I just re read and I saw that your running 17x9 non staggered.

So what size tires your running up front and what did you do to the fenders ?

And just so you know I love how your car looks and i hope mine will look half as good as yours. Mine is also sebring silver.

yeah I got the 17x8 thinking that I would not mind how they look but they are terrible. they make the wheels look cheap.

i would like to stay staggered that is why I wanted the 17x8/17x9 and since I don't like the 17x8 that is why I want to run the 17x9 and 17x9.5.

But I really just want to roll my fenders mess with it for a few days and not have any issues with rubbing afterwords. i want to enjoy the car rather than turn it into a mayor pain in the ass.

I ran 17x9 +45s with zero rubbing and moved up to 17x9 +40 with 255s all around and still didn't have rubbing issues.

These rpf1s have been kind of a headache so far with rubbing. I'm sure it's a combination of the little more aggressive size + my new 255s are Star Specs which are already wide for 255s and not enough camber but I have every intention of tracking the car and I refuse to run more than -3.5 out back. These cars don't need any more than that and more will just take away. Only other option is to raise it a bunch and that's also pretty lame. I'm kind of bummed. For reference I'm already at -3.3 out back so I don't think -.2 is really going to change much.

I did play with giving myself more room on the quarter panels and trimmed the bumper tonight so hopefully that'll cut it. I'm ok with the occasional rub on a bit dip but how it was sitting before I messed with them tonight they literally rubbed 30+ times each way going to work today. Not very cool
hey do have any pictures of what did you have to trim pull to make the 17x9.5+38 fit in the rear. I'm thinking about doing the 9.5 in the rear. I'm also hoping that since I won't be as lowered that I'll be easier for me to make them fit.

Now that you made them fit do you think it was worth it ? Or do you think that for daily use the 17x9+45 would be a better choice ?

Please help me out because right now I have the option of returning the 17x8 and getting the 17x9.5 and only pay $45 dollar difference.(great deal for a cash deal).

I'm going to daily drive the car and want to be able to get a good amount of miles out of the tires and not cripple the handling of the car and I don't want to run over fenders.

If anyone has some good pictures that would be awesome. I've only seen people running non staggered 17x9 or non staggered 17x9.5.
If you stick with a 225/45 front then it isn't that hard to do a 9" +45 front. Just bend the fender liner tabs up and you should be good to go. You can "roll" the front, but really there isn't much of a lip there. For a rear 9.5 +38 and a 225/40, you will need a full roll, bumper tab relocation, and some negative camber or a slight fender flare. IMO, you should run at least -1 to -1.5 camber front and -2 to -3 camber rear. It really won't affect your tire life that much as long as your toe is correct.

I made the switch as well, but running 9" +45 all around. It would be a much easier fit than a 9.5 +38 and you can still stagger the tires even though the wheels aren't.
