Any rpf1 set up is going to be light weight its just a matter of whether you want a staggered or non-staggered set up. As mentioned tire weights are a different story but the wider the tire the more grip and the wider the wheel the wider the tire you can fit. Its all preference really.

do you guys notice improved mpg with the lighter rpf1's compared to stock?

Nope. It's probably such a negligible difference that you really wouldn't see a discrepancy in gas mileage.
