You would be incorrect

17x9.5 +38 all the way around as stated above by mr Correct
I knew it! I could tell b/c the lug nut area is deeper on the 17x9.5s and I used to have 17x9s and I knew that I wasn't looking at them. How much camber are you running? what size tires? what coilovers? rubbing?

I recently replaced my rpf1s with some ce28s but honestly I'm almost too paranoid about messing them up because they were so expensive. I almost don't want to try to track the car on the wheels and I don't want to get more wheels either. I've actually been considering going back to rpf1s.

8.5 +40 is convex. 9 +45 is as much as they concave. 9 +38 just has 14mm of backspacing, causing it to stick out more.

the lip changes none from 17x7 all the way to the widest rim that they offer in the RPF1. the only thing that changes is that at 9"+45 the face goes flat or concave, the 8.5 is the widest you can go without going convex. (doesnt matter what the offset is)....
