they normally go 9" all round not 8" all round. It's also not really what's better what's not. It's more about how you drive and what you prefer.

 

Good question and why would you go with less then stock size wheel in the back to boot, thats just dumb.

I'll tell you this, the guys that are doing a non stagger set up that know what they are doing are guys that have other modifications so that it performs as a system, if you just take a stock S and throw as much rubber up front as the rear then your seriously going have to adjust the way you drive to compensate, which is the other factor of the equation, the driver, everyone has their own style and ability.

In a general sense, more traction up front means you have more means to rotate the car, under hard fast cornering this can be benificial, it can also be a problem and less forgiving at higher speed because now the rear is lacking being even more tail happy then stock and less forgiving. Its a safer bet to have less traction and push up front then to have less in the rear and spin out, the S is a short wheel base car, it makes sense for the average driver to balance the car with a staggered set up, in stock form it is more balanced or nuetral this way so you can easily push or oversteer, leaving more options to the driver if he is skilled.

To me with my driving style, preference and with my modifications in suspension I am not for the non staggered set ups, i think the car is better balanced overall with more rubber in the back. But most of all it looks dumb Its not an evo for christ sake!

Thanks s2000junkey, I understand it comes down to personal preference, but I dont have the mulla to get non staggered then find out oh crap staggered is what i should of got instead, this is the mistake i don't want to make, i currently run KW's V3 on stiff settings, I want the wheels for track purposes rather then looks, but I can shove something aggressive in there because im running alot of camber... see I dont have alot of track days under my belt to be able to know what I prefer..

 

Get a Saner front sway bar and you will be golden running nonstaggered 17x9 +45 255's all around

With the V3's and the fsb, you can balance the car out with your compression /rebound settings, alignment, and sway bar settings . You will not regret it. In fact you'll be amazed at how capable the S is with this setup. I know I was.
