RESULTS - www.nhra.com

Pro RWD

Final Round

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of final, round 3 eliminations in Pro RWD at the NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series, Nitto Extreme Performance NHRA Sport Compact Nationals:
W/L Driver RT ET Speed

(W) George Ioannou (Bullish Motor Racing '02 sol0.715 6.810 204.60
(L) Adam Saruwatari ('01 Accura) 0.446 7.578 178.59

As this pair left it looked as if Saruwatari may have stolen one with a .446 to .715 reaction time advantage. The Solara had the power though, and Iaonnou drove around the Acura to yet another 6.8 run at 204 mph.

Pro FWD

Final Round

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of final, round 3 eliminations in Pro FWD at the NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series, Nitto Extreme Performance NHRA Sport Compact Nationals:
W/L Driver RT ET Speed

(W) Nelson Hoyos (Bothwell Motorsports '03 Caval0.540 8.684 169.51
(L) John Brown ('03 Civic) 0.534 9.088 164.35

This one was close off the line and just as at Morose Brown was close but at mid track the Honda fell of the pace and Hoyos finally took a money round win light. A big puff of smoke and a sub 170 mph speed indicated that all was not well in the motor department but the GM team had their "daily double".

Modified

Final Round

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of final, round 3 eliminations in Modified at the NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series, Nitto Extreme Performance NHRA Sport Compact Nationals:
W/L Driver RT ET Speed

(W) Jimmy O'Connor (Venom Motorsports '93 Supra)0.615 8.553 136.70
(L) Cesar Febus ('86 300ZX) 0.542 10.134 105.35

Febus strapped a light on the Supra but the 300 ZX slowed early in the run as the Venom crew celebrated on the start line. THe victory was obviously much more satisfying than Jimmy's last win at Pomona when Matt Hartford conceded the run the day after his then team owner John Lingenfelter was injured.

Turbo Magazine Hot Rod

Final Round

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of final, round 4 eliminations in Turbo Magazine Hot Rod at the NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series, Nitto Extreme Performance NHRA Sport Compact Nationals:
W/L Driver RT ET Speed

(W) Marty Ladwig (Bothwell Motorsports '03 Sunfi0.576 8.724 163.73
(L) Jojo Callos (Castrol Syntec '01 Integra) 0.602 13.455 91.40

This one was all Ladwig with a slight advantage off the line that quickly increased as Callos had problems and slowed early.Marty is now two for two this year and running away with the points chase.

Honda Tuning All Motor

Final Round

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of final, round 4 eliminations in Honda Tuning Magazine All Motor at the NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series, Nitto Extreme Performance NHRA Sport Compact Nationals:
W/L Driver RT ET Speed

(W) Jesus Padilla ('85 RX-7) 0.536 10.624 123.02
(L) Scott Mohler ('98 Neon) 9.999 NT-Broke
Before Staging

This one was over before it started with the Mopar pitching a rod on the burnout and leaving a trail of oil across the start line. As the Neon was pushed away defending champ Padilla soloed for his first win of the season

Isn't a reaction time of under 0.500 running the red light? It just seems that Saruwatari's NSX didn't have a chance either way - 26mph slower trap speed! Perhaps he let off since he red-lighted? Or...is his car really that much slower? Or am I wrong about the redlight (sorry, drag racing isn't my thing)...

Best run of 14.1 at 96 MPH, so not too shabby for a first effort. Don't know if I'll abuse it like that again though
