yeah and save for a 6000-8000 dollar paint job where all the ruber trim will be striped, soft top removed, engine removed, interior removed, wheel liners removed, bumpers, and other panels unbolted, the new paint job will be quite inferior to what came from the factory. For this price trade yours in for the color you want.
I have seen very very very very few paint jobs that would be acceptable.. at least to me

DITTO. Nothing can come close to the original paint job from factory that is temperature controlled and dust-free. I recently repainted my hood (Seb. Silver) and was not happy with the results; dust specs all over like darn mosquito bites (even with the down draft fan on). IMHO, I would keep as much of orig. paint as possible and just repaint the affected area.

No reason to pay $6000-$8000 for a single color paint job...If you were going with a color changing paint or a bunch of designs, then it might be close to that...
I have had two of my Mustangs repainted...My current one, which was repainted black with a slight red tint in the clear coat almost 2 years ago, still wins best paint awards...I also only paid $1600 to have it repainted...The guy has a dust proof booth that is also climate controlled as well...The car was totally stripped to the shell...No engine, doors, body panels, ect...I believe it took somewhere around 6 weeks to complete...
Paying someone big money to have a car repainted does not mean it is going to be flawless...If the guy can't paint, he can't paint...Paying him more is not going to make him better...
Personally, I would rate the factory paint job on my S2000 and many others I have seen, as decent...I have noticed in places on various cars, orange peel, not enough paint coverage and sagging...Go figure...Just my opinion...

Honest opinion? I think your car looks great now. Those body kits... maybe I'm too old but I think they take away from the clean, elegant look of the S2k.
Hell... if you paint it pink, it'll look just like the Fast & Furious II car!
Good luck to you in whatever you choose...

Purge!
you have got to have the hookup to get a paintjob like that. Most places will charge you 1600 dollars just to strip the car down. Sorry but for anyone without connections, 6000-8000 is about the going rate for a 1'st rate job. The biggest part is the prep. Every square inch must be sanded and free of debris for the paint to adhere well.. Then and only then can the painter work his magic...
If either area is lacking... the paint will look horrible or begin to flake/peel.
