On our way to get new tires for the M...

having driven the coupe fairly regularly, I prefer the S as well, but we'll see how that holds up once we start with the aftermarket on the M.
and in case you're curious, the E30 stomped the M.

general response really. the M is a great car and is great fun to drive, but the raw character of the S is what draws me in. I don't know the M as well as my S (since the M is a friend's), so I might very well like it better if I did, but from what I know of both cars, I don't.
one thing I do like better about the M is the torque, but we all saw that one coming.
