Help with video capture from my Sony DCR-HC40
I have some in car video from the Dragon this past weekend. I took it on my Sony DCR-HC40 MiniDV digicam. The software that came with the camera pretty much stinks. What other options do I have for capturing video off the tape and editing on my PC (WinXP).
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Search offered very few results.

well if you want a no frills real easy to learn movie making software, then look no further than Microsoft Windows Moviemaker. Its not the best, but then again its by far the worst. make sure that you do the update for it in windows update to make sure that you have the best software. Then I belive that all you would need next is a IEEE1394 firewire cable (goes in the DV port on the camera)
After that then you are ready for importing of video.
If you want to go a little more extreme with out breaking the back you can pick up a cheap version of Pinnancle Studio for under a hundred dollars.

This one is just under $300 and should come with everything you will need.
