couldn't resist any more
well i've been trying to hold out til i get them completely finished and on the car before posting pics, but couldn't resist any more. i've had these for about a month but am working 2 jobs while i'm out of school for the summer and haven't had time to work on them much. well, didn't have to work this morning so decided to work on the wheels a bit. i've probably put a good 3-4 hours minimum into this one wheel shell that i got close to finished today, so i think i'm gonna be buying some beer and having some friends over one night this week to work on the others. i'm gettin pretty excited about them after seein this one today, so hopefully will have them on the car sometime in the next two weeks.
what they looked like when i got them
after some scrubbing with a steel grill brush and heavy chemical action, aka a combination of aircraft aluminum stripper, brake cleaner, brake fluid, greased lightning, and gojo (none of them really did anything on their own, so we threw them all together lol.) i really wanted to just use chemicals rather than having to use something abrasive that would leave marks on the wheels, but quickly realized that wasn't an option.
the nuts and bolts. the bolts are in extremely good condition and just need a little polishing if anything, but i'm probably gonna replace all the nuts.
wheel centers. they're in decent but not great condition, but i'm gonna redo them while the wheels are apart. i'm gonna take a shot at doing a super high quality rattle can job with lots of coats of clearcoat, and if that doesn't satisfy me (which i expect) then i'm gonna take them somewhere for paint or get em powdercoated.
gave these a good soapy wash, but i'm not touching them otherwise.
the big guns
half way thru
and finally...
and by the way, they're 16x7 +51 and 16x8 +51 blitz type-01. should fit pretty nicely, and i don't know of another 16" set on an s2k. may do a 10mm spacer on the front later on since they'll probably sit in a bit farther than i'd like, but we'll see.

One of these would be great for polishing the bolts:
