chroming the roll hoops
I have been thinking about this for a while now and I am finally pulling the trigger. The first thing I did was buy a set of roll hoops (thanks Stratocaster). I used a laserlevel to scribe a line around the base of the hoops. I wanted to make a separation between the plastic and painted "chrome" elements. I then used a hacksaw blade to cut a groove where the lines had been marked. ! week of sanding later, and lots of primer, here is what they look like. I have spods, so I wasnt particularly concerned with the inside seam. The outside seam was sanded and sealed.
I then took them up to my painter to have them painted. here are a couple of samples of the chrome paint that he does. Unreal, seriously, it is close to perfect.
Yeah, boys, that is paint. He can also tint the clearcoat and get some effects like this
I should have them back by the end of the month. More pics to follow.
