Thumbs up Why rough starts with blown head gasket?

Just curious, but the last two times I have started my car to blled the system it fires up pretty rough then smooths out after about 10-15 seconds. What is causing this?

Also there is a little bit of white smoke out the exhaust on start up, but no oil in coolant, and no coolant in oil, what gives/?

just trying to understand this whole blown headgasket thing.

It will continue to get worse. Eventually you will crank and crank and nothing will happen but a blown fuse. It would be wise to just park it before you cause it more damage.

Fix it before you really break it.

Your HG is more than likely blown between two cylinders and you typically wont get coolant in the oil this way. The coolant is just leaking up into the cylinder as your piston goes down and sucks on it and then you burn it when the piston compresses and ignites and then its also forcing air back into your cooling system.

You have a kick-ass car just get the HG replaced before you regret it.

towed hell, when I blew my HG the first time I was living in a condo with no garage. I did it in the driveway where it sat and purchased the tools as I needed them. Not all that hard to do.
