It took me ~10psi to hit 355rwhp on stock compression with the IP kit. There is no way you'll be hitting 400rwhp with stock compression with any normal size turbo.

ya what i've seen is like 360 and I figure thats a really good number. I'm cast currently as well and didn't even hit near that.

Just kinda guessing this 15-20hp per psi is probably a near good number to multiply off from. maybe something like 20-24hp/psi on a long runner efficient setup. Still hp/psi is never a good calc.

Thanks for the good info people, didn't mean to start an uproar or anything. I perfectly happy with starting out mid 300s on the hp. If I get used to that and want to go more, I can always make it a stage thing and throw in a bigger turbo and HG and boost away. I think the IP kit is a great kit seeing how all you have to do is slap some injectors (750cc should sufface most power goals before 500 I would imagine) and EMS. Sorry for being a FI Noob! lol Happy Holidays.

Hey I'm getting a GT3071R.... Is this a nice turbo, plans are to do a 3mm HG and run 15 psi.

Off topic butif the waste gate has a 7psi spring, could I raise the boost level with the EMS or boost controller or do I need to change the spring. The way I understand it is that the spring just sets the minimum and then the rest is set with the boost controller/EMS right?

thanks.

u are correct on your spring deal. I currently rely on the spring as well (that'll change soon and i'll rely on a controller)

if your doing it in stages do as I suggested man, save the lag time and the money and Just get a GT30R if you wanna stay on the big side, the 28RS is a great turbo I loved both of mine. Honestly if it was me I'd get a used turbo of someone on here who is reputable and somewhat trustworthy, run it...get your use outa it and enjoy selling it for the same price you bought it for, I've done that lots of times and it's saved me thousands I'm on my 5th turbo so far, I've only paid for 3 upfront outa 5.....thats a lot of money saved. When your ready to go bigger hit the GT30R to GT35R swap and enjoy a built motor and major power!!!!

Oh and for the maybe, possibly, thus far... answers... I don't say something is FACT until I see it done in front of me. I think thats good policy.

to each their own and merry christmas to all. ho ho ho

A perfect choice for mid to upper 300 rwhp. What kind of manifold are you going to run? You should have a pretty sick mid-range torque mountain.

How bout the AR and the impact it has? Let say its a GT3071R with a .72 AR.... The AR is only the size of the exhaust side of the turbo right?

So you don't want a small AR because it will cause backpressure and start falling off up top, but don't want too big because it will take too long to spool, Right?

I'm sure these are questions everyone has.

The exact specs you choose should depend on the type of response you want. I had a GT3076 of sorts with a 0.48 A/R turbine housing. The small housing caused very high turbine flow velocities in the mid-range yet resulted in a good deal of flow restriction up top. The effect was a very stout mid-range torque curve. Had I gone with a larger turbine housing (something like a 0.63 or a 0.82), the curve would have been pushed further up in the rev range. Since the housing would be less restrictive, I'd be able to open up a good deal of HP up top, at the expense of mid-range HP.

What are your power goals? What do you want your torque curve to look like?
