1 bar is lit, 8 bars is where my temps are all the time once the car is up to temp.

"As you can see, the stock gauge lights the 8th segment for any temperature between 178 and 225, which is a pretty wide range."

9 bars come on when the car gets to 225.

Water wetter FTW , haah I dunno, I guess it reads low
possible but I wouldn't think he would play with the fan settings if the stock thermostat / fan swtich work perfectly fine. Just know that your fans turn on at 200-205 and shut off around 195 in a stock configuration. You can estimate your temps from there.

Ems readings are almost always off.

ok, ive been busy with school for the past few days but i just had some time to do some very accurate testing and here is what i found!:

first thing~ my oem cluster bars are off according to modifry.

laptop up and ecu connected and watching all values:

-at 8 bars of my gauge, modifry says the gauge is seeing 178-225. the AEM c(converted to f) reading was 163 at the exact same moment.

-fans came on when the AEM was reading 188(which is what my tuner set them to come on at)

-idling w/o ac had me at a steady 199.4 in the garage.

-with the A/C on, sitting in my garage(no moving air) idling for 15 mins, the 9th bar popped up for a sec and i immediately checked the aem to see the temps had gone from 199.4 to 201.2.

that means that the gauge was thinking 225-232, but in actuality, it was 199-201. so the gauge progressively gets farther off and peaked at about 25 degrees OFF!!

i hope this info/thread will come in handy for any others that find themselves in my situation.

I'd suggest getting a seperate water temp gauge if anything.

I've heard of problems with both the modifry fix and the series 2 showing improper coolant readings...

My modifry is crap. Serial gauge works for me, but note I"ve also changed the water temp readings in AEM as there known to be wrong. This hot ass summer I can't hardly cruise long (100+miles) distances with AC on, which blows.
