What happens to VTEC when you SC or Turbo?

Haha, yes it's unconventional, for sure. The thing is I don't like the sudden jump in acceleration at vtec engagement, or the lack of low end power. BUT I feel the car is just right post-vtec. Therefore a system that would improve low-rpm power right up to vtec would be perfect (for me).

this is teh weirdest thread i have ever seen.
vtec was hondas answer to having a gas efficient/powerful small displacement engine.
when you FI it, you GENERALLY want the hi profile cam all the time when in boost. i say generally, cuase on a log mani setup, i have read you raise vtec engagement, not lower it, so that mani makes better power on the low cam up until a point, then becomes better on the high cam.
vtec is 2 different cam profiles in the same motor. when you hit the desired vtec engagement variables oil pressure shoots a pin that locks the vtec rocker to the other rockers and now the valves open more on that cam profile. generally, this makes more power.
just as a funny thing for me to mention, i once had a situation where vtec was not engaging on my roots setup, and boost climbed to 15psi instead of staying at 8psi which is does on the high cam. answer, the low cam is very inefficient for power in the top end of the rev range, except on a log mani turbo setup.

I am indeed watching the ivtec thread with great interest. I don't really understand what people mean when they say "gears". Is there a write-up someone can point me to? It's kind of a generic word to try searching for.

I'm trying.
It's hard.
They ain't cheap.
I don't have patience.
I have a spreadsheet of prioritized upgrades for my car that tops out at $12k.
I don't have $12k to splurge on my shiny red toy at the moment.
Life is cruel.

Gears are a nice mod, but ill stick to boost. The i can't feel vtec anymore on my setup. But you can hear it when it enguages, that and the turbo spools up after vtec kicks in. So boost makes vtec feel awesome.
