Default What is everyone doing with the oil coolers?

I have the Full-Race sidewinder manifold but the damn lines for the oil cooler touch against it. I shortended the hoses and now I look under the car to see that the oil filter is only about 3/4 of and inch away from the mani on the bottom. What would it affect if I just take the oil cooler off? Is anyone running without one?

a lot of people are required to remove the oil cooler and re-route the oil filter. I removed mine and built a custom front mount oil cooler which works a lot better than the stock unit.
i ran mine for about a year without any form of oil cooler with no issues.
if you were considering removing it and placing the oil filter where the oil cooler went i don't see how that wouldn't work. you would have to get an oil filter adapter thing from a b series and then you would have to find an oil filter with the same diameter as the port on the side of the block (alot wider than the stock filter). you could use the oil cooler itself to locate the proper sized oil filter diameter. then use the b series oil filter adapter to locate the appropriate thread pitch.

alright, i mean if I just do away with the oil cooler all together it will get rid of my fitment problem and the lines wont be touching the downpipe anymore if they arent there.

why relocate if it'll work without the oil cooler plate? is there a benefit? seems like it's just wasted money.

The oil cooler cools the oil. The Hotter the oil the worse it is and the more it degrades.
