ap2 trans has a primary reduction gear for the first 4 gears which works out to be the equivalent of a 4.20 ratio in your rear end instead of a 4.10. Its something but not much. Then 5-6 gear have a wider spread. 6th is will give you more top end speed for the salt flats plus its got carbon coated sincros. Its a better trans all the way around inmop. Cant you just swap the flanges from your current trans to accommodate your shaft?
At my power levels using the ap1 tranny my 1st gear last .3sec I cant believe that someone making 100hp more than me would even be able to use 1st gear.

this is such a bummer! I have been waiting to see big numbers from this car, its wierd how some trannies can take it and others cant, granted you are putting almost 500whp more thru that tranny than stock, so its only a matter of time till it breaks...

i hope you get it fixed soon!

It will be fixed by this weekend. I found an 03 tranny with 28k miles for $475 that I'm picking up tonight.

I also spoke to Jon from TRE and he did some calculations on a stock tranny for me. He has some software that can calculate what the stock tranny will hold and for how long. He said that with the S's stock tranny, I can expect it to last 80 hrs at 500 wtq as long as its a virgin tranny I start with. Which this 28k miles tranny is a virgin tranny, no boost on it or beating on. 80 hrs at 500 wtq is just that, 80 hrs of beating on it before it starts to weakin and break, regular driving doesnt take away from those hrs. He said mine broke because I have been at 400 wtq for over 2 years and I had already put about 300 hrs of hard beating on it. You have to remember, I have been boosted with this car since it had 3000 miles on it and now it has 15k. This tranny lasted me 7 years and 12k miles at 200+ wtq for 2 years, 300+ wtq for 2 years and 400+ wtq for over 2 years, I cant complain. This 28k mile tranny I purchased should last me the rest of the season with ease and some of next season before it breaks. I dont mind spending $500 a year swapping out the tranny for a fresh one.

I was like NOOOOO when I read the thread title, lol.

I'm going back next Tuesday for a re-tune and more power.

I HATE our gear ratios w/big power.

I shift waaay to much. Racing any cobra's/vettes I have to shift 4-5 times and they shift 2-3, lol.

I get pulled everytime I have to shift...sucks.

If I go to another solution, it will be a better gearset not only in terms of strength, but better ratios for boost.

bingo.

ever watched a 9 sec pass of the s2ks with bult trans? they trap out in 4th at 140+

worst if you stick with the stock trans get a rear with a 3.70-3.90 rear. that'll at least be good for one less shift.
