Default Walbro fuel pump

I got a new walbro 245l/m IIRC, with my used CTSC. When i installed everything, the only diff in the fuel pump was that it was a bit louder than stock when it first starts up and pressurizes the fuel system. Once you start the engine, u cant hear it at all.

Now, 4000 miles later, its starting to whine louder and is very audible at idle. Is this normal?

Mine whines all the time, as does every 255LPH Walbro I've ever heard. (and it's been quite a few pumps)

Mine whines too. And it is never under similar circumstances like low gas or long hard drive. Always completely random.

Get a loud exhaust and you'll never hear the pump.

Seems dependant on ambient temps to me. More vocal in the winter. Possibly due to the change in composition / viscosity in fuel in the tank?

Mine occasionally does it in heavy traffic. Drives me up the wall.

I also thought that fuel viscosity was less dependent on temperature the way diesel is.

The other 'feature' I deal with is that the last few bars really disappear fast rendering the fuel gauge worthless.

Reminds me of a Vauxhall I used to own in the UK.
