Well with the two recent posts of comptech pumps going out I decided to listen for my vortech pump. I turned the key to the on position and heard the fuel pump but nothing from the front. Currently my strut bar does not allow access to the fill cap. Should I be hearing the pump? After a long drive I felt the cooler and it was hot but not hot enough to where I couldnt touch it. Should I be concerned?

Definately not as hot as the blower.

Makes a light buzzing noise. you can put your hand on the hose and feel the water running through.

BTW, the comptech and vortech pumps are different.

I noticed my Comptech pump was no longer making noise today as well and I remember it making noise like the fuel pump when I turn the key on before. Its suppose to be on all the time if the key is on or car is running right? How do I trouble shoot this? Does the pump just go bad or is it a solenoid switch or what? Anyone have any experience with fixing this issue? I pulled out the power wire from the fuse box and plugged back in, but didn't do anything to correct the problem of course.

check the ground. wire the pump direct to make sure it's working. these pumps have X amount of hours of life. I think it's about 2000 hours of run time. Like a light bulb they are expected to go out.

No biggie, if it's gone out, just replace it.

Well pretty sure mine is out. Dont hear anything when I turn the key, and cant feel anything through the lines.....Wonder how that affected my numbers. Sucks.

Sounds familiar, my vortech pump is still working, but seems to be in the last breaths as it's making strange noises, definetely not running smooth anymore.

I also experienced high oil and then also water temperatures whilst driving 180 km/h constantly (about 6000 rpm) after about 10 minutes.

It seems the oil / water cooling system is not running 100% fine. I also noticed a couple of weeks ago no water in my vortech aftercooler, a couple of days ago I could see some water in there.

Can someone explain how the system is supposed to cool down the engine on water and oil cycle with the vortech aftercooler and the pump?

engine water, engine oil, SC water are all seperate. nothing to do with each other (as far as cooling)

The easiest way to check the Comptech one is to remove the filler nut and look inside, the water swirls around when working correctly
