Vortech SC performance review

Vortech SC performance review
So after running with the Vortech SC for a few weeks here's my review of the performance:
Up to about 3500 rpm the acceleration is the same as stock.
From 4000 up to around 6000 rpm, the car feels a bit more torquey and like everything is happening 1000 rpm sooner. In fact my dyno showed that the SC exceeded the stock torque maximum even at a mere 4000 rpm.
This is all nice (not hugely impressive) but when the cams switch over past 6000 rpm the power surges and the car and feels genuinely fast. On the highway you don't need to drop down to 3rd to pass, since 4th gear pulls so strongly. I was getting weary of the passing in bionic slow motion feeling - that's completely gone now. In 4th it could walk away from my Stage 1 WRX in the same gear, no competition at all, though the WRX has more torque. In fact even 5th gear with the SC pulls more strongly than 4th gear in a stock S2000.
In general the high rpm acceleration slightly exceeds my modified NSX which had about 290 wheel hp, with the same feeling of eagerness to run to the redline as the bigger normally aspirated engine. This is logical since the Vortech makes about 280 wheel hp and the S2000 weighs a couple hundred pounds less than an NSX.
Clearly the Vortech kit is under-utilized as far as boost pressure is concerned and has more power potential (300+whp), but just the power output of the basic kit is worth the price, IMO. Hopefully though in the future Vortech will do the R&D for increased power options (pulleys, injectors, electronics) and sell kit upgrades.

Its a good kit . Ive had mine in the car for 24k . I still love the rush at vtec . If anyone gets a kit for the ap1 then they should check the a/f ratio as they run very lean ! Or just put in hondata or aem and be done with it . Oh and tune it of course .

I've ridden in a vortech supercharged S about 2 months ago...It felt like his 3rd gear is the same as my 2nd and his 4th gear reacted the same as my 3rd at accel. and so on. Bear in mind he also had the 9k redline while I have the 8k redline.
Sad to say...The vortec kit won't really work on the '06+ s2k's due to the DBW. The good news is that Kraftwerks came out with 2 kits for the '06+ s2k's. The regular boost kit which puts out about 300whp and the high boost kit which puts out about 360-375whp(depends on the S). These kits are expensive though(Almost double of the vortech). But they are supposed to be very reliable daily driven kits. Most people opt for the high boost kit...something to think about. There are also 2 other companies that came on the market recently or are in the process. One of them puts out about 350whp on low boost.
