Default Thinking of getting a nitrous kit....

Ok so I recently had a piston scar my cylinder wall and have since sent the block out to get sleeved. I bought carillo rods and arias pistons. Im staying with a standard bore and stock compression ratio. Question is, With a pretty stout motor like mine will be, What do you guys reccomend as far as nitrous kits go? Could I be safe with a 50 shot dry kit? Or would I be better off getting a wet kit? Now correct me if im wrong but the wet kit is direct port or can it be a fuel/n20 jet in the intake tube as well? What other upgrades are going to be 100% neccesary to safely run this kit on what will essentially be a brand new built motor? Thanks in advance for any help pointing me in the right direction.

If your going to use nitrous, I DO NOT recommend a dry shot kit, you'll be rebuilding your motor sooner or later again. You'll need either a wet kit or direct port. (direct port being the better of the two but it cost about twice as much). Preferably Nitrous Express, You'll make the most power with this kit. You'll need to go to a local performance shop or you'll need to get the number to NGK directly and order a 2 stage colder plug for your S2000, if you wanted to keep the factory spec spark plugs, or you could go get some ngk coppers that are 2 stage colder as well but they'll need to be changed sooner. A 75 shot (WET) is a safe shot to use, if you dont act stupid with it, follow the simple guide lines of using nitrous. Dont half ass the install, make sure the nozzle is bolted securly in your intake pointed directly to the throttle body about 4-6inches away (if you get just a wet kit). Dont use nitrous under 4000rpms, unless your using it in first gear. Dont hit rev limiter spraying nitrous, dont power shift, dont spray back to back runs more than 3 times, (give your motor some rest) If this is your first time using nitrous I recommend using a full throttle kit (once you take your foot off the gas pedal, nitrous stops, once you press it again its back on) that is the safest way to go, to prevent mishaps. If you get a purge kit, purge everytime you take the nitrous bottle off the line and put it back on. And remember nitrous is expensive, about 45 to refill at 10lb bottle, so dont purge too often. Get a bottle warmer, its much more safer than the old torch method. And then get a VAFC and get a tune for WOT. You dont want to run too lean. And look into getting a clutch after the first 2 bottles. And getting a test pipe and running race gas on the days you know you'll be spraying isnt a bad idea either. I had a 75 wet shot on my S2000 for a few months, went through maybe 6 full bottles and my car still runs and performs like new. My car dyno'd at 276hp 247ftlbs on a 75shot. And I raced a STI with bolts on (i believe he was stage 2) and smoked him by 3 cars in a 3rd gear pull to give you an idea what to expect. But mainly be safe and smart and have fun.

you are always better off with a wet kit as opposed to a dry kit

wet kits do not have to be direct port, they can be located in the intake just like a dry shot

My .02: Get a set of 4.57 gears instead. Same performance increase, less chance of Ka-boom...

That isn't true AT ALL! 4.57 gears will get you around mid-high 13s in the quarter. A 75 shot will get you deep into the 12s.

Remember, peak hp for peak hp, nitrous is faster than even a turbo.

If you ran a 75 shot with some gears, you'd get wasted like a stock s2k would beat a miata.
