Default Thinking about raising the redline

Looking at possibly building the head for more rpms and raising the redline from 9000 to 9500 or so. Wondering if supertech valves, ti retainers, and dual springs will allow me to do that safely. Im sure the stock valvetrain COULD do it, but would rather have the piece of mind. Dont wanna mess with the bottom end...gonna keep it stock.

How much did you guys pay for the parts + labor on a headbuild like this? Just your basic springs, ti retainers, and valves. I dont wanna spend too much money, just looking for some insight on price and how feasable this is. Thanks for looking!

Id like to know this too as ive had a quote for roughly $1600 and that seems like too much. Parts pricing for everything like dual valve springs/ti retainers and supertech inconel valves looks to be around $800 but the labor is where the price seems too high. I can get the machining and build labor done at a local head shop for around $200-250 which seems more reasonable. So that would knock about $500 off the quote i got elsewhere if i go with the local shop.

springs and retainers is all you need. But i dont think raising the redline would benefit you that much. your turbo will be out of its efficiency range and you might lose power instead of gain power

But someone else correct me if i'm wrong too

The stock valves are known to warp over time with big power too though and that can cause a valve to drop and also with warping valves, it will wear the seats very fast. Its a good idea to go ahead and change to inconel valves to combat this. Its just that to do so, $1600 for machining and all the parts just seems too high from what i was quoted. Anyone know what a good price would be for all the work? Or what has others spent on their full head builds for comparison?

Be sure to get new valve guides also, very important to dissipate as much heat off the valve.

I had the whole nine yards done to my head including porting and like mentioned above Inconel on the exhaust valves too.

all this money for 500 more rpms? u should spend it somewhere else because when u do it.. you'll still need to be retuned for the extra 500 rpms

It sure beats floating a valve or dropping a valve and grenading the motor.

Trbokev, how much did it run you for all the work and parts? What parts did you go with? What do good valve seats run?

Call Lasky, I ordered the Valve guides, and the Valves (Exhaust valves got the inconel coating). I was not comfortable with the titanium stuff so I am leaving the OEM springs/retainers

I will not be raising my redline
