He used to repair bad tct's and send them back. Supposedly he has a permanent fix for them

yeah his original fix was sandblasting the worm gear then that would fix them. he since then developed a permanent fix for the TCT. I forget the cost and details, but pm him on here...

Just spoke with Bill and gonna purchase a new one on Monday. Was there ever a TSB on this issue?

Oh and for anyone who has the same issue there is a great DIY writeup of how to change this out. I guess its important to do a new oil change when you do this. No big deal for me as I had to soon anyways.

5w30 is not recommended. The manual clearly states 10w30. There are some guys who run 5w40 without issue. I'd recommend 10w30 Castrol Edge fully synthetic I've had a good experience with it and it's an on shelf oil unlike Amsoil. I'd prefer Amsoil but don't like the price/availability.
