Thumbs down TCT repair

Really hoping this isn't piston slap, but not sure exactly what it is yet. Hoping someone with some knowledge of engines can point me in the right direction. Sorry about the crappy video. What I know so far. Spark plugs look like new, oil is dirty (2k old) and oil level shows almost full. And coolant looks clean, and also full with nothing in the overflow tank. And when the car is cold it doesn't make this noise at all. I also have low end hesitation when I go to accelerate. And for some reason there is oil on the front of the block. Any ideas before I have to tear this thing down yet again? I am seriously hoping its just a tct or fuel injector issue, but I am doubting it at this point.

A worried man...

Josh

And the video of the dreadful sound

Sounds like the good ol tct failure. When's the last time you fixed it or changed it? I've replaced/fixed mine twice already within about 20k

If your handy take the tct apart, sandblast the worm gear and reinstall and I'm 99% sure your probably will be solved

Good luck!

The engine was just built this May and I have put just over 2,000 miles on it...

To fast to be piston slap @ idle.

I'd say it's a tct issue as well.

Get some brake clean, wipe the oil down and keep a close eye on it, you will be able to tell where it's coming from. Oil is funny, a little oil, makes a big mess.

I saw the writeup for the tct replacement. I have never done this myself. Can a semi-noob do this without screwing it up? And 2nd question (and I assume its a yes), is this a severe enough problem where I shouldn't drive 60 miles to a friends garage where I can work on it?

thnx,

Yup, I vote TCT. Piston slap has more of an inconsistant clunking noise. That oil around your chain cover is probably just a matter of re-sealing the edges with some hondabond.

Its very easy to install. Grab a helms or do a search on here for a DIY. This job probably takes all of 10 minutes.
