TCT issues with SC?
Anybody have TCT issues after fitting the SC? I have changed mine before 9000 miles and after i put the SC i have done 700miles. I can only hear it when i start the engine and after stops. Is like it is just start to show me it will need replacing.
A friend of mine who had a SC also had the same problem. He took off the SC and replace the TCT with a new one but after 4000-5000 miles being N/A he had to replace it again So does the SC cause excessive wear on the TCT? Anybody can help?
Thanks
Chris

What oil do you use?
I was going through them like you with Mobil ! and then switched oils and have never had any problems since.
I'm convinced it was due to the oil.
Simply take the tensioner apart and sandblast the worm gear and it will be good as new.

I agree with TROBKEV, I also think its a oil problem(Mobile 1). I did the sandblasting trick twice to 2 different TCTs and after 3000 miles of using Mobile 1 the problem came back again. I then bought a new TCT and switched to AM5 oil and have yet to have a problem...

change to a new tensioner after every oil change!!!
I switched to eneos 0-50 and running perfect ever since. be sure to atleast replace it when you do change oils (changing oils only without replacing the TCT wont help imo). valvoline 10-30 and a new TCT and you should be good for awhile!
