Inlinepro... Theyve had there oil pan tapped in the front of the oil pan since day 1. Not one problem. I asked LJ at Fullblown since I basically have there full equal length kit( he taps the pan) me I go to the front of the pan and haven't had issues once. But the saying " to each his own" .

The oil pan is connected to the timing cover by a few bolts on the front. So in theory I can just take those bolts out and not the whole pan.....

Just drop the pan and do it properly! Its really not worth risking the chance of a leak is it?

All of us that run KPro have had to remove the timing chain cover to switch out crank sensors and wheels. There is virtually no way to remove the timing chain cover without dropping the oil pan. Search the KPro install threads. Many have tried, but ALL have eventually removed the oil pan for reinstallation of the cover.

It is possible to remove the timing chain cover with the oil pan and head on, but getting it back on is a different story. With the head off it would be no problem to instal it.

Alright I guess its not as easy as I thought it would be.
This is a good alternative to taping the girdle, you have to drop the pan to do that anyway. At least with this you could do the tapping/welding with the part on a work bench.

Luckily I have a spare oil pan so I will just get a bung welded onto that this weekend.

I don't think so.

Drop the pan. Easiest of the 2.
