It does get cold in the mountains around there, in the winter months. Not Alberta cold, but cold enough.

I use Mobil1 and surely am pouring all that perfectly good motor oil down the storm drain.... errr I mean into the recycling container... every 3,000 miles. Like others, I suppose it's just peace of mind, no basis on empirical facts whatsoever. I don't recall reading anything in the Comptech paperwork about specific oil type.

You are correct. Comptech only states to use whatever is recommended in the S2000 owner's manual. They don't seem to care whether you use dino or synthetic, while Vortech does specifically state to use synthetic. I'm not sure why, only that when I have listened to CT cars and VT cars, always the CT cars sound much more "gravelly" than VT. It could be that the different blower that CT uses has a different size of oil passage to and from the oil jacket at the bearing and the oil jacket itself.

The only thing I know is my SC'r sounds less gravely with Mobile1 than Royal Purple which is why I went back to Mobile1. Car idles better too.
