Which oils are synthetic esters?
Some Motul, Amsoil, Redline, and VP, as a starter. Dunno about any of the 'off the shelf' oils you can pick up at an auto parts store.

You'll pay around $8-$10/qt...................... some you can buy in 5 gallon or larger sizes, which reduces cost/qt somewhat.

Kleecker, are you using MOTUL 8100 X-cess 5W-30 ?

There was a time when I only used ester synthetic oil on my motorcycle ($55.00 p/gallon) but the convenience and price of PAO synthetic oil ($32.00 p/gallon) made me changed.

I googled prices and they now cost the same, but still not available at the local shop. I guess I have to just stock it up =)

I always thought that Mobil 1 is a "full" synthetic. And what's the difference between "full" synthetic and "pure" synthetic anyway? Sounds like marketing.

I live in one of the coldest climates you can daily drive an S2000 and I've been using Mobil 1 5W30 in the cold winter months for the first 4 years of the car's life. This past year, I decided I'd just stick with M 1 10W30 all winter. Never a problem. M1 actually flows very well in extreme cold as opposed to dino oil of the same viscosity.
Hehe, I think you missed the sarcasm of that remark Xviper. He's in Las Vegas, which was having 110-120 degrees F temps last I'd heard.

Cold by their definition is 50 degrees F.

I musta had another one of those senior "off" days when I responded. Maybe I was thinking he drives up into the hills around Vegas. Does it get cold up in the mountains? Are there mountains?
