Is anyone using a clutch stop with the v160 swap? Is it really needed? Installing one is not in the install manual

Just push the pedal in to see where the clutch disengages (move the shifter in and out of first gear). Then once you establish that point, push the pedal the rest of the way down and see what kind of extra movement you have when you bottom the pedal on the floor. If it's between 1/4" and 1/2" of extra movement, you shouldn't need a stop.

My V160 stage 2 build from Jacks Transmission is on its way to me. I'll post a thread of the goods

Why the build? Isn't the stock V160 strong enough to take the abuse?

I know any one that has drag raced this trans a good bit shifting at or past 8500RPM seem to hurt the synchronizer

I believe that a well used V160 has taken abuse in its life which is probably why some of us deal with certain noises here and there. I bought this trans for $2500 and sent it straight to Jacks because the owner didn't know if anything was wrong with it. Luckily, it wasn't too beat up. It did need new synchros all around, 2nd and 3rd were only in fair condition, and the countershaft needed to be replaced because the trans sat for a long time and corroded in a couple spots where the gears sat against each other.

So for $5000 I pretty much get a brand spankin new V160 with a sick stage 2 build and a trans that I 100% know for sure will shift like butter and have no issues with. The stage 2 build is pretty impressive.

is that 5 gs on top of the 2500, or 2500 for the trans and 2500 for the stage 2 rebuild?

One of the reasons I really wanted the dogbox. I hated the fact the V160 still had Synchros.

I wish everyone on here had the chance to drive a PPg Dogbox with this car. It really was the most pleasurable experience with the car. It was so fuggin awesome.

A PPG V160 Dogbox would pretty much be the sickest set up. Set ya back almost $20k but would be nice
