Anyone know if you have to take off the starter to drop the v160? It looks like the started is threaded into the adapter plate and not the tranny.

nope you dont have to remove it, but one of the bolts might go through the block into the plate, I'm pretty sure it does actually

You should not have any issue dropping trans like this, i did mine (ap2) trans like this worked out good, i used a trans jack since i did this alone. Made life easy and harbor frieght had a sale on it, i dont use many of their tools but for a jack that i may only ever use a hand full of times, i said f--k it.

How high did you have the car up? If I use a trans jack I don't think the tranny will have enough space to clear the underbody

I use 4 jack stands maxed out and wrestle it down onto my chest on my own lol. Goes up the exact same way!
