Yea looking back on it I kind of regret the contributions. I feel like it almost gave people this false hope that the kit could be made reliable (I believed it too). Big mistake.

@Original Poster,

The paxton based novi kits (SOS/Comptech) are super reliable. I have had a stage1 on my daily for 50,000 miles. The car has only had oil changes and regular checks here and there. Had a O2 sensor go out - unrelated. Also had to change out a PCV on the valve cover. The SOS is a very well built kit - you are paying for the best - just make sure it has a good install and tune or have someone you trust install it with the supporting mods and it will be carefree for a long time.

On a side note the KW kits are not bad but have some weaknesses. The only rotrex kit worth paying money for is the TTS = costs a heck ton. There is also the HKS kit which is nice and i think is AIR to AIR cooled rotrex based. It depends on the type of response you want. Had a friend with a KW kit and it certainly came on a lot faster than the Paxton based kits.

Wow, even LHT is taking a step back from the KW kit now huh? Damn.....kit is doomed now lol.

In other news Ryan @ Moddiction has been in contact with KW, and apparently there's a ribbed belt drive kit in development; they're ditching the cog system. Too little too late if you ask me. Even if they do make a reliable kit, the components are cheap. If you ever compared KW parts to SOS parts side-by-side you'll see that the SOS is incredibly high quality, which of course demands a higher price tag over the KW, but it's money well spent. KW has all of their stuff produced in China (minus the Rotrex blower). SOS is all USA made.

It was the stage 1 comptech kit. 6psi. 280-300ish typical whp.

aka today SoS stage 1 kit.

So SOS/Comptech = good.
KraftWerks = bad.

Not even considering forced induction but that's nice to know.

Accurate based on feedback. Can’t vouch for KW but what a stout Comptech & SOS are.

I've seen used superchargers for well under that price, of course, but that doesn't include the probable required clutch and fuel pump. There are also considerations for the non-fuel return cars like my '06. @st.ryder64 installed a used supercharger a couple years ago in his garage. I watched part of the installation and it's simple enough but I think he left the clutch alone. Used unit has some teething with the oil lines as I recall. Dave will see this and probably respond.

I'll try to verify the quote to ensure I didn't pad it with shipping costs to and from Tampa.

What did you get your vtec lowered too?
