I sometimes miss my SoS hi-boost kit. At 14psi with stock exhaust/HFC I made 396whp and I think 250tq on a conservative dyno dynamics dyno. I decided to switch to turbo for more power, which is definitely more fun, but the car is less drivable with the kit I got, which is PTuning. With the turbo I needed to free up the exhaust and with the low mounted turbo you need to use their much more solid motor mount. On long drive my hands get the pins and needles sensation from holding the vibrating wheel for so long and the extra noise sometimes gets to me.

With the SoS kit the car drove exactly like stock and sounded pretty damn close too until I put my foot down, at which point it really moved and sounded almost like a big sport bike. I installed the kit in 2014 and had it until earlier this year with no issues at all. I sold it to someone and they now have it tuned on their car making around the same power. The kit looked barely used when I took it off, which is a testament to the engineering that SoS put into the kit. I HIGHLY recommend their kit and with a larger pulley you can easily and safely reach your goals.

Have you seen Engineering Explained on youtube? He installs an SoS stage 1 kit into his AP1 and documents it pretty well.

SOS and PTuning are the 2 forced induction im looking at right now... i would do the sos with the smallest pulley and e85... which then tells me i should just get the turbo kit.. 500 hp effortless. but then i think how much of this power can i really use on the street. 1st and 2nd become useless. So i would only be able to enjoy full power on the hwy 3rd gear and up..

If I were to drive the car for any extended period I would go SoS hands down. For overall thrill I would go PTuning turbo. I made 440ish whp on the same boost and same dyno, so 40+ hp more and way more below the curve. If I roll onto boost in 2nd (and even 1st gear to an extend) it hooks okay and goes with 3.9 gear and 255 summer only tires.

What about the HKS pro kit supercharger? Anyone have thoughts on it. Is it more reliable? Their YouTube video says its about 350ish HP.

It seems to be a decent kit, most consider the blower to be a bit small considering the other options on the market but it's a well thought out kit.

HKS, I'm not a fan of the some what convoluted piping, nor the awkward filter location and type. Nor the high mounted blower (though it does mount farther back than any other sc solution). Iirc, this also uses accessory belt to drive blower, which because of pulley location, requires a different tensioner than the very reliable stock one.

My Vortech kit has been rock solid . 75k in the blower developed an oil leak . I pulled it out and sent it in for a minor rebuild . While i was there i replaced all the idler pulley's and the oil drain hose . The only drawback from this kit is changing the belt as you need to partially remove the blower to do so . Sos kits do not nor the old Comptech kits . The Kraftwerks kits i don't know much about . Anything that can go 50k+ with no issues is pretty damn good if you ask me . As far as cons go , i'd say the powerband curve/delivery is almost exactly like a stock S2k just more everywhere . A descent sized Turbo S2k will usually RAPE a blown S2k but not always .

Fantastic car to drive if you go high-boost supercahrger setup. I can't imagine how fast the Turbo would be... boy oh boy but if you're about that pure throttle response yet that amazing feeling of continuous acceleration... look no further than a NOVI* blower with a high boost pulley.

I freaking love my car.

I bought it when I was 18. I am now 34 and at 200K miles on the same motor and the same blower... well that old blower is chirping now (bad bearings) so Novi1000 is getting replaced with a 1200 unit now.

I'd consider the IMT supercharger kit now.

Poured through the other KW thread you were a big part of. What a mess. That thread should be stickied.
