Default Supercharger: Aftercooler vs Intercooler?

I was looking at this intercooler and I was reading this guy's test results. Scroll down to his chart.

Does an intercooler really have that much lower temps than an aftercooler? That seems pretty important or is this guy just trying to sell his intercooler haha.

All depends on the amount of water, size of the heat exchanger, how long it's been running, etc, etc.

If the water is near ambient, the air passing out of the aftercooler should be pretty close to ambient, provided the aftercooler is of sufficient size, and efficient design. Water has a very high specific heat, and is very thermally conductive, meaning it absorbs heat readily, and it takes a relatively large amount of heat to raise its temperature. Water is a fantastic coolant, and is used even in cost-no-object applications.

However, the inverse is also true, once water picks up heat, it has to drop a lot of energy to lower its temperature. Once an air/water system is heat soaked, it's heat soaked.

From what I've read, the SoS kit performs very well under very harsh conditions, but I've heard of some other SC kits with smaller heat exchangers/aftercoolers having issues.

Quite a few people on this board have this FMIC if I'm not mistaken. It's nice and the fitment looks good, but boy is it pricey.

I would not think twice about getting a Non-aftercooled kit and installing this front mount.

There is No water pump, extra fluids, more engine bay, lower intake temps......

The only bonus of and Air to water I see is the ability to get a really good tune due to more even intake temperatures.
