Default some power gains on my stock Comptech

After I install a mod, however small, I'd like to see if it makes a difference. Aside from the SC, the test pipe, KrankVents, and replacement airfilter have made decent gains. Total from "stock" increase almost 22 whp and almost 14 wtq. Before the test pipe, I could not pull on my brother-n-law's 05 GTO (400hp), after, I was able to - at least 1 car through 4th. I increase the gap even more after the airfilter and KrankVents.

2/3/05 Purchased new 05

5/31/05 base-line dyno - Stock (Modacar - Dynojet)
204 whp and 142 wtq

6/1/05
mods: Comptech SC with AC, modified stock exhaust

278 whp and 184 wtq

7/16/05 Mustang Dyno (Gruppe-S)
new mod: test pipe

256 whp and 169 wtq

9/24/05 Dynojet (Modacar)
new mods: none

287 whp and 188 wtq
*looks like I picked another 9 whp and 4 wtq with the addition of a test pipe.

11/18/05 Dynojet (Nextgen)
new mods: Relocate DV (no longer routed back to intake); Install KrankVents to create vaccum in crankcase; Replace foam filter for AFE gauze filter; Crankcase breather no longer going into intake.

296.06 whp and 194.05 wtq (first run)

294.00 whp and 193.99 wtq (second run)

Allow car to cool for third run and final run:

300.60 and 197.11 wtq
Gained an additional 14 whp and 10 wtq with the installation of the KrankVents and replacing the airfilter

Here's my little four banger:

The KrankVents
- first pic is the crankcase breather, catchcan with filter

- second is the KrankVent at the pcv, plus a shot of my second catch can

Crankcase breather and DV no longer attached to the intake tube. DV is routed and made to act like BOV instead.

Nicely done! Its a good idea anytime you free up the exhaust flow for any forced induction applications.

Like the guages

Can you be a little more specific of how/where you routed the DV hose? From the pic I can't see where it goes.

I blocked the inlet on the intake tube, and the DV is only attached to the aftercooler. I also reversed the DV (trick I learned from my turbo days with my Audi) to prevent any possible boost leak. The DV now vents to the atmosphere (essentially becomes a blow off valve). Single stage BOV are basically dv's that vent to the atmosphere. Where as, valve like the HKS SSQV are dual stage valves that do not allow boost to be released during part throttle. I'm still trying to figure if any issue will occur with the SC with a dual stage.

Reversed dv:

Installed onto the aftercooler, w/ intake inlet blocked (this is before I just vented the crankcase breather).

here's a shot of the intake tube - dv dump and crankcase (circled in yellow) are blocked.

Thanks! I'm working on mostly the "go fast" and performance things first. Just my preference, then I move onto exterior modifications.

My boost/vacuum gauge is a Cyberdyne w/ memory function. It goes from 24mmhg vacuum to 20 psi. My oil pressure gauge is from Summit Racing (a cheapy one, but was the only digital one that I could find that went up to 100 psi). But, now I found a Nordskog that may go to 100 psi too, so I may change it out. I wanted all digital gauges since there aren't any analog one in the S.

Btw, your car rocks too!

Yes, this is on a stock pulley. But, I only boost to 4.8 - 5.2 psi max in 4th gear. On the AP2s, stock boost with an AC will be less than 5.5 per Chaz (sp) at Comptech.

Just trying to maximize the stock pulley potential...I may up the boost later, but don't necessarily want to deal with issues that may arise. I modded the hell out of my Audi TT, however, more engine mods = more issues.

Your set up is great just under 300hp nice Now do a set of 4.56 gears and she will feal like you have 350/400hp

4.56 gear will let you stay up high in your rpm where the comptech/vortech shines!

Looks like AP2 with supercharge make good power. Also forgot to ask you were you running stock header? damn if its 294whp on new filter drop in and modified stock exhaust with test pipe. I think that some really good numbers espically still on the FMU with comptech computer.

Oh, I completely agree with you guys. I still need to do my clutch first, but the damned stock clutch is still hold up! I bet if I get the gears first, the clutch go right away! So, I'm waiting til I change the clutch out before I do gears.
