ouch, sorry to see the car in that state, but glad everyone was ok. The first thing i did when installing my manifold was designing a proper heat shield.

Ceramic coating in and out helps...then some exhaust wrap when possible. Looks like some wrapping was done but ya a shield was obviously needed.

When it was 125F in Vegas I was running my car hot and the fuse box plastic got hot and started to melt just a little bit, that's the limit of how hot it gets with ambient temp that high, I figure I'm safe.

Shameless but I see he had his Hood vented and even that didn't help enough... I'm surprised he didn't detect smoking or anything with the hood vent nor the smell?

Thats what I would go with. Guy with new car having fun doing pull after pull and heating it to the point where a seal goes or something. Even with a big turbo, that vent in the hood should have kept temps in check unless you are treating it like its a road race.

I wouldn't want a car that I can't flog around for a few hours without worrying about it melting down.

Don't think it would have been a problem with proper shielding and relocated fusebox.

Yeah that is exactly why I spent a few hours to extend the wires and move the fusebox to the front of the engine bay!
